PREPARE: School-Based HIV and Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Prevention Program

1. Aim: to delay sexual debut, increase condom use and decrease intimate partner violence (IPV) among young adolescents.

2. Subjects: Boys and girls grade eights in 42 high schools (age 13-14) in South Africa

3. Methods:  an educational program, a school health service and a school safety program.

The educational program consisted of 21 sessions delivered

Time: once a week, immediately when school ended, in the school premises.

Duration: 1 – 1.5 h/ session

Participants: 25 participants/session
